I had what I thought was a tensioner rattle.Turned out to be the water pump so make sure it's not that. You could actually see the pulley move back and forth because of the worn bearings. Having the same problem again nearly 50,000 miles later but it comes and goes so will have dealer check it next time car is in for other repair.
