Tensioner Rattle
Hi All,
I recently installed my 65mm pulley from eurocharged and i also have the needswings pulley saver kit, but now i am hearing a rattling noise when the car is at low rpms. (in drive at a stop). I was able to use the ebrake and put the car in drive and i can see that it is the tensioner assembly making the rattling noise. Would i need to replace the whole setup or could this just be an issue with the tensioner pulley, or could the belt be too long? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I had what I thought was a tensioner rattle.Turned out to be the water pump so make sure it's not that. You could actually see the pulley move back and forth because of the worn bearings. Having the same problem again nearly 50,000 miles later but it comes and goes so will have dealer check it next time car is in for other repair.
I can see the tensioner moving around and if i touch it a tool at all the rattling gets way worse so im prety sure its the tensioner..i just dont know if i need to just replace the pulley or if i need to buy the whole assembly?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I think my water pump is making that noise, but now maybe it's the tensioner?
I hear it to, at low idle. Oddly, the noise goes away when the secondary air pump runs! (Probably due to the load on the electrical system that the pump represents means the alternator changes the belt tension a bit.)

I did put in a new tensioner assembly and it seemed to fix it for a little while, i am now getting the same noise again so i dk if the belt i have is possible a little too long causing a lack of tension, or could be one of the other pulleys (waterpump etc.) it does not seem to be causing any issues, just annoying at a stop light. I will probably look deeper into it over the winter and see what it is.
Had the water pump rattle for the second time last year. Bearings finally locked up, sheared the plastic pulley right off the pump and took out the tensioner as well. Cost a bundle to have fixed.
My pump pulleys have always been steel.
Did you get another pulley for it one time that was plastic?
