Someone please help me with this noise coming from my car
Good Day All,
I've owned my crossfire from since 2010 lately I've had some mechanical issues with it but once parts where swapped it seemed to be fine. However I've recently had a belt burst and I replaced belt, tensioner and idler pulley. There was a noise coming from the car before this all happened. As a matter of fact the noise has been there for a while but it seems to be getting louder. I've uploaded a video for your listening pleasure 😀 I really need some help on this I would really appreciate it. I feel like I'm going in circles my mechanic told me the noise was coming from the pulley but that was changed and the noise is still there

Ok I changed the water pump....gonna monitor it over the next day or 2. Noise still seems to be there somewhat.... If that's not it what else could it be
Get yourself a mechanic's stethoscope like this one: Mechanic's Stethoscope
This should help you to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from. Just don't get it caught up in the belt while the motor is running!

Things that spin and could make noise on an NA :
1. idler pulley
2. tensioner pulley
3. water pump
4. power steering pump
5. A/C compressor
6. alternator
On the SRT6 add SC pulley

I'll come fix it for you if you pay airline and hotel and rental car.
Shouldn't take me much more than a week
Never been to the Virgin Islands.
That must be where all the virgins we once had in Alabama went.

Lol hahahaha at that Virgin comment unfortunately that is merely false. I need to go to mechanic school so I can complete these tasks myself. I have a video of that I took of the annoying noise but I don't know how to upload it to this site so an expert can take a listen

Ok so I've changed the idler pulley, tensioner, belt and now the water pump. Noise is still there. My mechanic obviously doesn't know what it is. The video I posted on here is the noise I'm talking about. It's like a knocking noise almost ....into to a tick tick tick please listen and tell me what u think thanks
I would try removing the belt and spin the idler by hand. It looks as if the bolt may be worn, allowing the idler to move. It just doesn't look smooth on the video, I would use a new bolt there. It is hard to get a direction from the video.

When you had the belt off it wa a good time spin the other pulleys, generator etc. And feel for any roughness.
Ty_Ty, I listened to your video. To me that sound is not coming from the rotating belt/pulleys. To me it sounds much more like something on the valves and rocker arms. You need to find another mechanic; someone well qualified to work on Mercedes Benz.
SOunds like a lifter to me.
How many miles on that engine?
When was the last oil change?
What oil did you put in there?
