Default Re: Fuel Filters

Ive had some experience with aftermarket fuel filters. My advice is to buy a Factory filter. I decided to change mine out a few years ago, and went with an Auto Zone brand, thinking it was just a fuel filter. Not realizing it was also a pressure regulator. After having it in for about two weeks, the car started to start very hard. It also did not have full power under a load. I could not figure out what it was, and thru the forum, realized the filter was also a regulator. I took a pressure test at the fuel rail, and discovered the problem was in fact the fuel filter I had just replaced. I had Auto Zone replace it, and it was fine for a few weeks again. Then it repeated what it had done the first time. The manufacturing process must not be the greatest on these, and found out aluminum shavings were in fact getting stuck in the pressure relief valve, and the filter would not hold pressure. I then Bought a Mann filter, and it also did the same thing. I ended up getting a used one from a Crossfire, and have had no problems since. How crazy is that. Hope this helps someone, as it had me scratching my head for some time, until It was finally figured out
