Using the RPM's to save your brakes. Downshift so that you use engine braking instead of the middle/left pedal. To go faster, learn to use both.
I keep my RPM's around 3-4k and shift up at redline. On the Dragon I'm constantly between 2nd through 4th. On the roads you followed me on it was 2nd through 5th. I say upgrade those brakes and do both!!!
