8th Annual Fall 2014 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 3, 4, 5
As you can see, I had a blast this time...learned how to save the RPMs with the stick...loved every minute of it... could not stay up with Nick...too Fast..LOL
Looking forward to chatting at the Fall meet...Carl

Nick: What I trying to say is that when you go into the turn and downshift, the RPMs remain up as opposed to breaking that looses the RPMs.. hence when coming out of the turn, the revs are up giving you a sort of "uninterrupted power"... does that make sense??
I keep my RPM's around 3-4k and shift up at redline. On the Dragon I'm constantly between 2nd through 4th. On the roads you followed me on it was 2nd through 5th. I say upgrade those brakes and do both!!!
Using the RPM's to save your brakes. Downshift so that you use engine braking instead of the middle/left pedal. To go faster, learn to use both.

I appreciate it, but there are many many people who come to the Dragon that are better drivers than I could ever be. I learned quite a bit from Gary, Dan, Jim, and Kim. I occasionally have my moments of brilliance, but for the most part, I'm just trying to keep it between the lines.

Well said sir. Brakes are for stopping, not for driving. One advantage of the open rear end is greater control on turns using the engine to put pressure on the free turning front wheels. Brakes dissipate energy as heat. A total waste of energy that one can use coming out of a turn.
That and some controlled lunacy will make the Dragon a breeze to run thru.
However, I will admit, a brake upgrade makes it safer to be nuts.

Actually, I was speaking in reference to your drinking....your driving is fine.
But consider this; the biggest reason I am behind you a lot is that I like the look and sound of your pipes.
Betcha are scart now eh?

You're right there too. This dragon I couldn't keep up with anyone when it came to drinking like a sailor. I guess I'm out of practice.
I am not attesting to anyone’s driving ability…however, during last year’s Fall Dragon, one member of the “fast” group told Nick before the run began that he was going to pass him during the run…and that is exactly what happened. I was not the only witness to it! Make whatever conclusions you like.

I don't have much "learned" experience in driving these roads, since I have only actually driven once... but from what I've seen this Spring meet... I can only vote in favor of 13 dog's abilities...which is positive for good fast, efficient driving...
