I would agree with moparfreak on this - if you are not interested in buying don't make negative comments. Surely the forum is there to help fellow members - not to criticise??
As for private number plates (seems they are called 'vanity' in Canada) there is a phrase 'there is nowt so queer as folks' !! What is good for one person is not for another. I got my plate from a nephew 10 years ago - he was a bit short on cash! He had it on his sports car C 5EXX - Illegal spacing I know but like using a mobile phone while driving so many people seem to get away with it. When I acquired it I had a Citroen C5 Exclusive so CF EXX seemed like a good idea at the time. Certainly £400 would be OK for me - but who knows?
Also re the price I am asking. You only have to look at the top 8 priced Crossfires on the Autotrader site to see that they are asking over £7000 some with a mileage higher than mine. My view on this is that an 05 Crossfire is identical to an 07 Crossfire and a spotless 05 with low mileage and immaculate service history should be worth similar to a higher mileage 07.
I truly believe that the Crossfire will be a future classic so in 20 years the age difference will have no bearing on the price - it would be based on condition etc.
If i was out there now looking for a good Crossfire that I could cherish then I think that mine is easily comparable to any of those on Autotrader and I would jump at the opportunity of acquiring (for a similar price) one like mine but with the Startech parts and knowing it was quite unique - a one off as far as I know in the UK
And - as moparfreak commented what a seller asks for his car is not cast in stone - everything is negotiable
I rest my case !!
Richard
My comments on the plates was actually meant in jest, but some people take everything at face value. The meaning of the plate meant was nothing to me and that was what actually caught my attention in the first place, now we know.
