Startech Crossfire For Sale
Hi All
I have decided to sell my 2005 Crossfire - Automatic in Sapphire Silver Blue Metallic. Two previous owners. Mileage 33600.
It was first registered in April 2005 and at the original owner had the following STARTECH accessories factory fitted:
Front Spoiler
Chrome Mirror Covers
Chrome Grill
Rear exhaust diffuser
Illuminated (STARTECH) stainless steel door sills
Chrome Side Vents
Siver Carbon Fibre Console
Handbrake Lever
Gearshift ****
A/C chrome Rings
The above accessories added £5000 to the price of the car when new in 2005.
I have regrets with my decision to sell but I have to be practical. The car gets used very little - under my ownership it has not left the garage between October and May and in the two years I have owned it I have only covered 1000 miles so really I am not getting the most out of it!
It has a full service history - 4 stamps in the book the first three from Chrysler dealers and the last I had done a few weeks ago by Mercedes Benz Southend. This was a full service and included spark plug change and also the auto transmission fluid and brake fluid. They gave it a full health check and all they came up with was that the tyre sealant was out of date.
Additionally it comes with a custom wind deflector, chrome lower grill vents and chrome door handle insert shells, colour coded reverse parking sensors.
All the tyres are practically new
Taxed until October 2014 (being pre 2006 has a low annual road tax)
MOT until May 2015
I have the original Crossfire sales brochure and Startech brochure and pricelist.
It also has a personal registration plate which I would prefer to sell with the car.
The number is:L C5 EXX and valued at £750
As far as i know the only thing wrong is that the heated seats do not all function properly but I understand that this is not uncommon with Crossfires ! It is not something that bothers me being a summer car.
The car is in immaculate condition and I would price it accordingly but also I hope competitively. I reckon on £6500 for the car and add £1000 for the STARTECH bits bearing in mind that this must be a very unique Crossfire - I don't know of any other similar around with all this and a low mileage as well.
The number plate at £750 brings the total price to £8250
I am bringing this to UK XFire members. At present I do not intend to advertise nationally as there is still (I hope) some summer out there to get some use out of it.
I was hoping to get to the Blenheim Palace meet on Sunday but I have a clashing commitment so not sure yet if I can make it.
I live near Chelmsford and if anyone is interested in contacting me about my Crossfire my email address is: jarturner@hotmail.com

Mmmmm! Think you will struggle to get that, at the end of the day its an 05 Crossfire with some over priced shiny bits fitted, they do not increase the value of the car!!! You will stand more chance putting the car back to stock and sell the accessories separately!
All the startech parts you list are now readily available at a fraction of what Startech charged for them!
£6500 is about top dollar for an 05.
Just my opinion! good luck, you never know!!!
At £750 that plate had better have solid gold numbers on it and even then I think it might be iffy in value.
I have noticed before that vanity plates over there are pricy. That looks a little like a Canadian postal area code to me.

I agree with 180 about the value of the plate ...My three plates V6 AXF V6 UKK.. And my current plate V6 BXF (THE BEST COLOUR) were all well under £400.00. and purchase from DVLC.
UKKen
Simple solution, don't like his price? Don't buy it! Are you in the market for that exact plate? Seeing how you don't live in the UK I highly doubt it, so why hound the guy over his asking price?! That would be like me griping about the price of tea in China! It doesn't involve me so I STFU about it and move along with my day.
Click......read......move on if it isn't for you, comment if it directly applies to you. How hard is it?

How did my post affect you? Take your own advice, click and move on.
My comment was really based on the seemingly high cost of vanity plates in my country of birth. They are much cheaper here, but I still have not been tempted to buy them.
Talking about the price of tea in China, have you seen the cost of a cup of char in Hong Kong lately?
I would love a good char over a postal code vanity plates.
Having said that...I am still interested and would love to own a right hand drive SRT6 in Canada.

Yes I did edit my post. Some may have viewed it as being too harsh so I cut out the parts that I thought might have been taken as a personal attack. I did not intend it to seem that way so I removed it. It was also meant to be directed to more than one person, hence the quote removal as well.
It just gets tiring seeing people attack others posting on the boards, regardless of a seemingly high priced item. We all know the value of anything is simply what the buyer and seller agree to part with/purchase said item.

Seems to me that my efforts to sell my car have caused a quite unnecessary reaction!!
I would agree with moparfreak on this - if you are not interested in buying don't make negative comments. Surely the forum is there to help fellow members - not to criticise??
As for private number plates (seems they are called 'vanity' in Canada) there is a phrase 'there is nowt so queer as folks' !! What is good for one person is not for another. I got my plate from a nephew 10 years ago - he was a bit short on cash! He had it on his sports car C 5EXX - Illegal spacing I know but like using a mobile phone while driving so many people seem to get away with it. When I acquired it I had a Citroen C5 Exclusive so CF EXX seemed like a good idea at the time. Certainly £400 would be OK for me - but who knows?
Also re the price I am asking. You only have to look at the top 8 priced Crossfires on the Autotrader site to see that they are asking over £7000 some with a mileage higher than mine. My view on this is that an 05 Crossfire is identical to an 07 Crossfire and a spotless 05 with low mileage and immaculate service history should be worth similar to a higher mileage 07.
I truly believe that the Crossfire will be a future classic so in 20 years the age difference will have no bearing on the price - it would be based on condition etc.
If i was out there now looking for a good Crossfire that I could cherish then I think that mine is easily comparable to any of those on Autotrader and I would jump at the opportunity of acquiring (for a similar price) one like mine but with the Startech parts and knowing it was quite unique - a one off as far as I know in the UK
And - as moparfreak commented what a seller asks for his car is not cast in stone - everything is negotiable
I rest my case !!

Someone commented that I should add some pics - I do have plenty but being a bit long in the tooth technology wise I am not sure how to publish these to the site. I can easily email them but posting on the web is not something I am confident to do
Any suggestions?

Good luck with sale!
Where did you get your shipping quote??? I had a quote to ship one to Florida the other day £780+ US port charges, wouldn't have thought to Canada would not have been that much more. If you are serious about shipping a RHD Crossie to Canada get in touch with what you are looking for, sure I can find it for you for a lot less than 8K.
Billerrickydicky. You are trying to sell a car to people who already have at least one, and know the Crossfire scene!!! So you have to expect criticism if you ask an unrealistic price. We would all love our beloved cars to be worth more but Just check out the Trader, 05 plates with low mileage are asking between 4/5k, your list of bling does not almost double the value of yours!!!!
But, should you put it on the open market you may just find someone daft enough to pay it.
Good Luck
1800 pounds (approx 3200 CAN) to Halifax plus delivery to Ont. This is going on a 20 ft container.
Let me know where you can get this car in the same condition for under 8k US dollars, pm me and will talk.

Plus GST at 13%.
I am not sure if right hand drive cars can be imported these days unless it is a collectors car and for exhibition only.
Edit
I guess they are still, there was some talk of banning them as a way to stop imports of some Japanese vehicles.
