The schematic shows the existing switch has a resistor inside it to vary the voltage to the Body Control Module. No other aftermarket switch is going to work unless you know the value of that resistor and add it to the new switch. In addition, the new switch would also have to be "momentary contact" like the original.
The idea was to make a better looking switch for the "cool" factor more than anything. I was going 2 leave the stock switch as a dummy then drill and place the security switch (red cover) just for looks and also for actual use. But it doesnt really matter. I think i have an idea of what i want to do anyways.
