Have checked all the connections as suggested and all ok as are all the fuses, thanks for the tips.
Will have to wait until my return on Monday to the garage to see what they come up with.
Have also noticed that the battery is loosely fitted and I can rock it around and despite the negative connection to the battery being at its tightest I can still pull it off by hand meaning the terminal on the new battery must be smaller than the one its replaced.
