I consented to a search once.. road block about 2 miles from my rural home. Rounded a corner one night and there were 4-5 cop cars with lights flashing and headlights pointing at me. Actually thought there had been a major wipeout on the corner and stopped about 50 yards from them.. was in my Miata and with the "surprise" forgot I had the car in 5th. Got waved up with a flashlight .. and stalled the car out. When I pulled up to him.. he wanted to know why I hesitated so long when signaled to pull up. Explained it to him and got the "mind if I search your car?" Thinking in my best interest with nothing to hide.. "go right ahead". Center console had a computer ram module anti static bag in it from some swapping and dealing computer parts previously.. "What's this for".. informed him what it was.. and shortly was "released". Realized later they could have torn my car apart with a "sucks to be you" .. your free to go. Never again do they get permission without a Judges signature for search.
