They do NOT gently lower the trunk. I procured my SRT6 with 8500 miles so it was pretty low usage, and they only keep the trunk open. Same for the 2007 coupe that I bought for my son about 5 years ago. As long as they hold the trunk open and it takes gentle pressure to start closing it, then they are fine. Save your money.
