I did mount the cupholder between the 2 seats. I got 2 rubberized koozies and ripped the bottom out. I can put my water bottle in a koozie with about 3/4" of the bottle sticking out the bottom of the koozie and it wedges into the cupholder firmly. Haven't had an accident yet!
