Nope. Just one right in the middle, in front of the tranny. You can't miss it. It helps stabilize the side shimmy of both front wheels. Here's some better pics over on the SLK forum. Exact same setup as ours.

And in case it hasn't been mentioned, here's the torque values from the manual ....

Steering Damper Bracket Nut and Bolt 40 N.m / 29 Ft.Lbs / 348 In.Lbs
Steering Damper to Drag Link Nut and Bolt 40 N.m / 29 Ft.Lbs / 348 In.Lbs
