What I mean is, this is now the fourth time in the past two weeks someone has indicated that the left one has failed on them.

The 2 sockets are IDENTICAL !

( I have one laying here on my desk that has a burnt exterior contact, just have never gotten around to fixin it )

BTW, there are 2 versions of this socket, the later ones have much more 'meat' in the contact area.
