That is not true, they just want to rob you, find another dealer.
There are companies that reprogram the SKREEM modules. The actual module can be purchased used on eBay for less than $50 but it will need to be programed to suit your ECU.
The part is called the door lock module or the SKREEM module and is Chrysler part number
5099541AA or Mercedes part number 170 820 18 226, Siemens part number 5WK4 8698.
