People are always saying that these type of parts are not made anymore. If all these parts were made solely for the Crossfire then the original price would have been even more astronomical, parts like sockets are basically off the shelf parts and are made in the hundreds of thousands.
Look at the part and look for a maker and a part number. Then do a search, a similar socket was found this way some time back. Failing that go to a wrecker and look at scrapped MBs etc.
This was said to be the socket and then it was found not to fit even though the part number was the same. Check your part number. Is it the one mentioned here?
