Believe it or not, the ones that came with the car are still working fine.
The ones in my 2005 are OK, but the ten years are up and I may be running on borrowed time.
Arado chipped out the potting material and exposed the battery but said it was too much bother and left it there. Being the type who hates to scrap something that is serviceable like yourself, mind you I took off a perfectly good siren and replaced it with the beeper, I thought that it was worth the try to fix them if at all possible.
I think the secret will be not to do any damage to them by going at the battery area only. After replacing the battery the epoxy needs to be firmly set in place and able to take the environment inside the tire without coming loose.
