Wavetrac. Other mods are listed in the sig. You stated you didn't like the grand national, and these cars are comparable. You may not like them. The MB side of it, makes shifting smooth, not harsh, and not when you want them to, but when they want to . It does have the option of the "slap" shifter, but it will shift at it's pace. They still are quick out of the hole. My best 60' was 1.76... Right now, I am looking for a way to change the coupes rear end gearing and TCU shift points, but that hasn't been perfected. So, you have a LOT of homework to do and read thru many of the threads. If you want to talk...just PM me and I will give you phone numbers. A handful of us have worked on modding these cars for the past 6-7 yrs.
I don't have, nor have I ever had an old muscle car that was as fast as either of your Xfires. A 66 427/425/450/L72 with a M21 4 speed and a 3.35 rear end, (like mine) ran a 12.8@ 112 in a Car and Driver test in Nov. 1965. I've never had my 66BB to the track, and my SD455 only ran low 14's, due partially to the highway 3.08 rear end (mandatory on a/c cars) and too tall Mickey T tires. So you can see I'm not a serious drag racer.
Re. the GN, I also said "I'd still like to have one", plus I'm 15 years older now and the 60's stuff still gives me enough of a thrill. But I need to move on, and my wife needs a muscle car too. LOL. I'll PM you to talk about the rest of the stuff. I notice you are in IN. If you are close to I-75 maybe I could visit on my way to or from MI??? Up from Tampa in June back in Sept.
