Tommy, I was going to leave this alone but am curious as to your knowledge about Cobra's. You probably know more about them than I do and referring to the Cobra in the same sentence as the Mercedes must say something that, again, I don't know. If I have come off as being cocky I apologize for that when referring to the Cobra's. I can tell you all I know little about the Cobra's except they have the potential to be crazy powerful. I prefer my Mercedes over the Mustang without a doubt. FOR A FACT, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. The SLK is smooth, quiet and easy to drive. The Cobra was rough, noisy and difficult to drive. Given the choice I would take the SLK. I do enjoy modding my vehicles and this is my last, Lord willing. That is why I have put thought into what I have done to the car, especially the motor. I see that a couple of you have been around the block a couple of times. So you likely know what a "nailhead" is. getting one to run with it's sister cars is/was difficult. I had 5 of the Buick GS cars. Then there was the '74 El Camino. The 454 got that 4000+ vehicle moving! jump forward and the quickest was a 122c.i. Eagle Talon TSI AWD.11.68 @ 122mph. The Mustang was just the car that got me to Florida. I did little of the driving, maybe 2 hours a day.
If any mods are done on this current car, Rob, owner of the best aftermarket parts for these cars in my opinion, would be my go to guy for the final opinion. He truly does seem to "have forgotten more about these cars than most people know about them". I have garnered a respect for him in a short amount of time. It's nice to have the opinions of so many and some even have hard facts that back those opinions. Those are the ones to listen to! Again, if any references to other cars other than the ones driven by the 3.2 SC V6 in what we drive, I apologize. Let's enjoy driving these cars and share the experience. Mark
