A tale of two GM plants... I had a 1989 Buick Park Ave, 3.6L FWD transverse motor. I needed a coil pack (one of the three dual plug coils) and went to research the Buick PA part number. The ONE coil at the time was $114.00 plus tax (and change, its been almost two decades). Now me being the el-cheapo I am and knowing the same motor was in the 89 Le-Sabre (and a multitude of other GM products) I went and researched the Le-Sabre part number. I got that coil pack brand new for 31 bucks (and tax/change). So, manufacturers do the part number/part switch many times, and the 'level' of market of the car makes a difference on what price you pay. The two coil part numbers were different BUT the part inside was absolutely identical. I believe proper homework should be done whenever ANY part number is substituted, just be aware they just might not work. I feel as 180, that if someone takes your post at face value without insuring the part is absolutely swappable, that monies may be lost for a variety of reasons (especially if anything was defaced/damaged in the attempt of making it work). I sure haven't spent that money for that particular part swap, so I cannot say for sure they are the same internally.
