If it were as simple as monkey see, monkey do...these cars would be tons faster/quicker.
My GT with the Cobra motor was quite worthless in the first 2 gears as at ANY rpm the tires broke loose, 315's too, just not an R compound as the car had to make it from Syracuse to Punta Gorda.
281 c.i. makes a big difference and those motors were built, forged bottom end and 4 valve heads.
I'm just looking for info from experience. Jim has been helpful but he is running mid 10's with a V8 so we are not on the same page, not even in the same book! I do appreciate that he is not condescending. He treats me like an equal who does not have his experience. I like Rob's products but he is in business and maybe some of what he recommends is fine in a perfect world. Right now I am running TORCO full strength, 105 octane to be able to run an extra 1.5* of timing and be safe.
It seems the 62mm SC pulley was the way to go.
I thought I saw a thread where somebody nhad a machine shop turn his stock pulley for under $200. Then the piece could be hardened if tht did not make it too brittle. Just a thought.
