Well, got the car packed and was about to head out. Started the car, was doing some final-last-minute checks on my luggage, and smelled something burning.
Saw smoke from the radiator. Saw the battery light on. Measured battery voltage - 11.00 volts with the engine idling.

I can assume that the alternator just "went up in smoke"....

I wonder if I can go get one in Atlanta today. If so, I may be able to leave late today and still make it!
