Do not forget who declared war on who here, you burnt down York (Toronto) so we set fire to Detroit, I hear it's still burning, and the Whitehouse and a few places in between.
There were some troops here but the militias and Indian allies did most of the fighting. It is not a big thing in the U.S, we can only wonder why the winning battles are remembered. Read up on it, it was not a too popular war at the time in the U.S. As I say see the PBS program, a minor war but it drew the boundaries of our countries, which is the same as it was before the conflict.
