I have never used anything on spark plugs, and will probably never start to. I think that information from NGK is spot on and NOT a way of saying their plugs are better, it does not say that only NGK uses plated plugs, and sort of implies that others/most do. The biggest issue with hard to remove plugs is overtightening when installed and failures caused by engine overheating.
