Spark plugs- using anti-seize or not? Answer is NO
Metal shell plating acts as a “lubricant” which breaks away from the main body of the spark plug during removal, preventing damage to the spark plug and or threads in the cylinder head.
Pretty sure our OEM plugs have the "Metal shell plating",right? ...... I've always used a light coat of anti-seize over the years in all my cars, being careful to keep away from the tip end, and back off a couple of ft.lbs., being careful not to over tighten. I'm not convinced from this article to change my way. Obviously a couple of Gorillas overtightened their plugs and blamed NGK for it, and they had to come up with this little bulletin. My $.02
"Tech Bulletin"? For whom? Authorized Installers?
This sounds more like a sales pitch to me. "Ours are better because..."
I'll continue to use a very light coat (apply and remove 95%) just like I always have.
Thanks, though. I guess I trust myself more than NGK does.

I have never used anything on spark plugs, and will probably never start to. I think that information from NGK is spot on and NOT a way of saying their plugs are better, it does not say that only NGK uses plated plugs, and sort of implies that others/most do. The biggest issue with hard to remove plugs is overtightening when installed and failures caused by engine overheating.
Yes, NGK plugs have a non-seize coating, but not sure about others. I just replaced the original plugs in my 2004 coupe which were surprisingly NGKs with a Mercedes 3-pointed star imprinted on them. Didn't know MB sourced NGK plugs. I installed some new Bosch Platinums. I used a VERY SMALL AMOUNT of anti-seize carefully applied and rubbed into (and mostly out of) the threads. Have been doing this for years with no problem. However, I didn't do this with the NGKs that I recently put into my Town & Country minivan. From my personal experience, careful use of anit-seize with spark plugs does no harm.
