Pizza's Odd Request
Ok, so you all see my sigline:
"Built on the Mercedes R170/SLK320 platform... the Crossfire has taken on, sort of, a cult following."
I need to know where it came from. Back sometime in the fall of 2009 or spring of 2010, I read something online or in a magazine where the author was talking about the Crossfire. He wrote a summary paragraph that went something like this:
Based on the Mercedes R170/SLK320 platform, the Crossfire was the last offering built with Mercedes' M112 V6 engine. Initial sales were slow and remained disappointing throughout its production run. Many units were offered thru alternative outlets at reduced price and even with celebrity endorsements, interest in the car remained weak. However, in recent years, the Crossfire has taken on, sort of, a cult following.
I have tried and tried to find it - I have a need to "source" the material. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can turn this up? I do not believe it was "Car and DRiver" or "Road and Track", this was kind of a "look back" on the car after it was discontinued. I THINK it was part of a piece that discussed several "marketing flops" in the auto industry - but it COULD have been something like ' "Five great buys in used sports cars" or something like that. I think it was something off the wall like "Consumer Reports" but I don't know. I have done some searches and have turned up nothing. USUALLY I can make google work for me, but I simply don't remember anything specific about the article. Help, please!
