Does your belt show any signs of damage? When I was figuring out the pulleys for my stacked setup, I found the belt around the tensioner would sometimes contact the belt around the PS pulley and ruin the belt. Under lead the belt stretched enough to move the tensioner enough that the clearance was insufficient.
If this question is directed to me, the answer is no. Cutting the grooves off the idler pulley ensures enough clearance between the closest points.
