Threw my Belt again in my SRT6
Any evidence of water or oil leaks? OEM belt, or how many miles on the car or belt? This happened to me when pushing it hard at an autocross, but it turned out that I had a pin hole leak/crack on the return coolant line to the coolant reservoir. Actually it was at the plastic tee at the passenger side of the radiator. When it got hot, or tossed and torqued around(not sure)it apparently spritzed the belt enough to jump off when near WOT. I don't know if it jumped off approaching WOT, or upon the subsequent and sudden deceleration. Anyway.... No trouble since I replaced the plastic tee with a brass one. I was lucky not to sustain any damage what so ever, but could have been serious bad news! Take it easy until you get it figured out. Also, if you end up getting a new belt; placing the serpentine belt is super easy with a long breaker bar and torx socket for the belt tensioner(less than 5 minutes).
It happened again, I was powering out of a turn, hit the gas ,tires spun a bit ,and sure enough I Threw the Serpentine Belt fir the 2nd time, Car is a beast, but I can't have this happening whenever I do some spirited driving, AAA got me a flatbed and towed it to Dealer who will reinstall belt on Monday, That's it for now
Be sure that all the pulleys are in alignment and the one is not cocked or offset. Take a long look at the lay of the belts to see one is not too far front or back. Enjoy. Woody
The crankshaft pulley has been known to creep forward.
Better start learning how to do it yourself at that money.
That's highway robbery since you still have the belt
While my modified SRT6 has been trouble free I once had that problem with a modified Jaguar. I had to replace belts more often than change the oil. It turned out to be a very slight misalignment with the AC pulley (or deflection upon acceleration or engagement, I forget).
Looking at the belts while running might help. It seems that was how I tracked it down on the Jaguar.
Good luck.
I see the tensioner assembly was replaced, so I think that possibly the belt is too long and there is not enough tension on the belt. The reason I think this is because yor problem seems to have started after the smaller SC and other pulleys were put on the car.
Ditto! Again self inflicted wounds. Look at Tighed1s belt wrap solution for a cheap fix. Here is my modified version.
Does your belt show any signs of damage? When I was figuring out the pulleys for my stacked setup, I found the belt around the tensioner would sometimes contact the belt around the PS pulley and ruin the belt. Under load the belt stretched enough to move the tensioner enough that the clearance was insufficient.

As said earlier check the crank pulley (harmonic balancer). Just had the same problem and noticed that the crank pulley is slipping forward. Ordering new the tool, harmonic balancer, and crankshaft bolt this week. This is a known problem and should be fixed ASAP before the pulley comes off and does serious damage.

If this question is directed to me, the answer is no. Cutting the grooves off the idler pulley ensures enough clearance between the closest points.
