I start the car, turn on the iPad and it connects.
My ELM 327 requires me to go to the WiFi setup and look for the ELM327. 
The free program for the ELM does not show too much at all, my Innova 3100 just shows the pollution set to orange, not green or red. If I recall it showed orange when it past the pollution check last time.
I do not think that I will use anything else in future except the BlueDriver.
Pretty slick! Haven't tried mine yet - busy with work assignment. But plan to hook it up this weekend.
