Still not letting me upload.. but will chime in.. my tether actually lays under the hinge when closing.. so you do have clearance under there for it.. there is a slot on the car side.. and "arm" on the door that align when closing.. if yours is broke and scewed.. or if something is back up inside the hinge area.. looks like the only reasons it shouldn't close.. short of the hinge being messed up.
