Default Engine Temp Gauge Needle Position

This may have been a thread earlier but my engine temperature gauge commonly reads above the 1/2 line. It is like this 90% of the time...however it isn't a dramatic amount above either. I drove a friends crossfire today and realized the needle sat below the line no matter how hard I stepped on it or cranked the A/C. Where do your gauges sit at? Also is my issue normal or should I change my mixture of antifreeze and coolant? Could it be my coolant temp sensor? Also the stem on my coolant overflow reservoir was falling off so I glued it (could there be possible blockage there)?

Any help or comments would be great!! Thanks
