With automatics.. you don't have to actually "hold" the key to start position .. just bump it and a relay interface cranks the car for XX seconds or till ignition. But you have been given all the sound advice that can be given by the others here on the post.
About the only thing I can add.. we had a member with a dealer replacement on the skreem at a cost of $600 .. most report $800 .. then you get some that come with the economy size Vaseline for the whole shop to greet you..
