I doubt that the immobilizer is at fault. Rather it seems to be the RCM or the CPS. As it is intermittent it could be either. When checked it should have a code set, if so what was it?
If it is one of these problems the fix is no cost or $50. Get the code read and let us know, maybe you are being taken advantage of, maybe not. Get that code.
