You think that the belt drives the alternator up to 2,500 rpm, the belt starts to slip and you think the alternator then slows down and drops to such a low speed that the light comes on. I do not think that makes sense.
I don't actually think that cause it does NOT make sense - like I said, if the belt is THAT loose, seems like the steering pump and maybe even water pump would be suffering, too.
