Thanks a lot, but I got lucky this time. I just found the problem. When my mechanic installed the new fan, one of the terminals in the connector was pushed down so it wasn't connected. First question should always be, "Is it plugged in?", I guess. When I saw that, I knew I had it beat.
Why don't you try the old fan. Maybe that was the reason it did not work, at least you'll know you are not tossing out a good part.
If something like that does not work you have to start at it and work backward, testing for power at the socket would have solved your problematic once.
Note to self, I'll have to remember that.
