Your main problem is the leak, you do not know what the previous owner put into the reservoir, it could be brake or transmission fluid. Your best option is to drain it all in after finding the leak and fill with what is recommended.
Actually I do know what he put in it. Rest assured, he did not put brake fluid or transmission fluid in it. He used Pentosin CHF 11S.
