Wipe it all down and then you might see where it is leaking from.
PS
Keep all your posts in one thread, people cannot be expected to follow two threads and give reasonable answers.
More posts on the same problem get less results than one post.

That's funny, because I used to have a Saturn (happy to let it go). And on that forum I was not treated as nice as I am here. I was lectured all the time for not making separate threads.

I thought because of my previous forum experience that because these were 2 questions I needed to ask them separately. One for the fluid type. And one (probably much longer) help finding my leak.

They are related questions, you need fluid because it is leaking.

Well, other people read these forums to help them. If I take my 3 replies (solved) thread asking if I really must buy fluid at the dealer. And turn it into a long thread about finding my leak (and anything else that comes up, part numbers and such). People looking for leak posts probably aren't going to click on it with the title "must use dealer PS fluid?".

Anyways, only thing I can do it clean the area and wait to see where fluid is going (and hopefully coming from)?

You may not have noticed but I answered both threads and put the most content in both of them.
Your main problem is the leak, you do not know what the previous owner put into the reservoir, it could be brake or transmission fluid. Your best option is to drain it all in after finding the leak and fill with what is recommended.

I did not notice, and I really do appreciate it. Not sure what your point is. But you're making me feel bad for not thanking you specifically. In the other thread.

Actually I do know what he put in it. Rest assured, he did not put brake fluid or transmission fluid in it. He used Pentosin CHF 11S.

If my point is beyond you any explanation would be as well.

I consider that to be condescending and rude.

Well, after reading your post in my thread asking if there were any fluids I can buy at a LOCAL store open on SUNDAY because I NEED fluid NOW. I see you assumed it had the wrong fluid in it already. I'm not sure where that came from., But.... Perhaps read the original question a bit better.

This is getting off topic. I know power steering fluid leaking on this car is common. What commonly fails to cause the leak, and I'll take a closer look at those parts. Rather than playing the waiting game and wait for it to make a new mess to inspect.

You failed to understand what I wrote, I said "but maybe it isn't what it is supposed to be anyway". I never assumed anything as I cannot know what was put in there, but suddenly you tell us it was Pentosin. I was trying to stop you mixing incompatible fluids in the reservoir, helping you out.

As I pointed out two threads gets confusing with people answering questions in one thread that were asked in another.
I cannot say that leaking power steering fluid is common at all, you see it mentioned here very few times compared to other problems.
Do as you please I will not bother you again, count on it.

I don't know what you're making a big fuss about, you must be bored. I NEVER asked where I can be leaking from in the thread "Must I Use OEM fluid?", that would be stupid, and confusing. And nobody wanting help with leaks would every find it.

I NEVER asked what fluid type I need to use in this thread "Help finding fluid leak", however, that would make more sense and would be appropriate.

Well, I was going to make that little "let me google that for you" link and show you all the results. I stumbled on a thread from 5 days ago. I was going to read it, forgot when I had to return to work from my lunch break. I thought I read it already, haha.

YOU gave potentially helpful advice in post 5 here: post #5

Because it was within the last week, same topic, and you didn't want to even give me anywhere to start looking for defective pieces. Makes me think that something about this "duplicate post" crap has you ticked off. What's your problem with me? These are separate problems.

I found the leak! It is the "return"(?) hose, that goes to the top of the reservoir. Can I get this at AutoZone, it seems to be shaped very specific way. Thanks guys! I found the crack in it about an inch from the hose clamp. While cleaning the area up.

I tried to find one locally, but no dice. If you can wait, you can find the correct shaped hose at a Benz dealer for a 2003 SLK32. It's about $10, as opposed to the $32 wanted by Chrysler. I could not wait, so I bought some transmission cooler relocation hose from Autozone ($8), as it is the same diameter, cut a piece, and because the radius is so large, you can loop the hose to the existing ports. just make sure it's away from the Exhaust mani, and check that is long enough to not flatten when the engine moves.
Hope this helps

Default Help with leaking Power Steering fluid

Well for some reason I was getting a slow power steering leak and I would fill it up every two week or so. But now it just runs out all over the place. By the front driver side radiator. Took it to the mechanic he said he would not touch it.. Grrr.. so I pick up some ultraviolet tracer that you can mix with the oil so the leak can be traced back to the source leak.
yeppey ki yeah. Uggg. Pick up both hoses and a pump. Just to be safe. Drives me nuts that a so called mechanic just does not want to do because it looks like real work. Grrrr.... This is one of the reasons I do all most all the work on my crossfire limited. As you can see I keep it very clean.
