Default HELP. Auto Transmission Fluid overflow

I was driving down the freeway today and gunnned it hard to get around a truck, glanced in my rear view mirror as I passed the truck and noticed I was burning blue smoke out the back. I pulled over righ away and checked the car out. The first thing I noticed was fluid pouring out from up front. Checked under the hood and noticed white/blue smoke from the filler area on the trans. so on closer look noticed no filler cap was in place and the top of the trans was wet with fluid. Looked to me as if the fluid had come from the filler area...?
The car was recently serviced at Spring Chrysler Jeep Dealer in Jan of this year for a leaky transmission bulk head connector leak. They replaced the connector and o-ring to fix it. I know they had to top off fluid at the time so it is possible the cap was never replaced and I didn't notice it....maybe. Question is, but would make the fluid suddenly erupt from the filler? I was inclined to blame the dealership, thinking they used the wrong fluid to top off after the bulkhead leak and plugged things up, sudden back preasure on my spirited accelleration causing fluid to go to the path of least resistance...the filler tube. What do you guys think?

I would get a new cap and then get the level checked. It could have been overfilled and then without a cap, it spilled over. The temperature of the fluid is important when the level is checked. If at full when cold, then it will be overfull when at operating temperature.

I was told by the dealership that they check the level after the bulkhead fix with temp gauge and service dip stick. They needed to add fluid at that time. This was in January, and I've driven to and from work 8 miles each way 5 days a week since. This was the first time lately I bounced it off 95 mph while passing so maybe the sudden shifting caused an issue... but why so much fluid suddenly leaking out eh top? There was considerable fluid loss on the engine and road to cause the amount of smoke I seen. I guess it was all running onto the exhuast manifold and burning into the bluish smoke I seen in the rearview.

When I first got out of the car I went to the rear first to see if the tail pipe was sooted from the smoke I was seeing. I looked under the car from the rear toward the front and seen the fluid flowing up front... thats when i went to the front and poped the hood. The fluid was coming from the filler area and flowing down the engine. Most got burned by the exhaust, but there was a fair amount still on top of the transmission. Any ideas on what would possibly cause a back flow like that?

If overfilled, the tranny will pump out the excess thru the vent. Woody

I sent the car back to the dealer today that did the work on the electric connector leak for the transmission. They say they never put a new cap on the filler with a locking pin when they added fluid. Could this be a reason for the leak thou? Seems funny to blow fluid threw a filler cap even if it was overfilled. They put dye in the system and verified it was indeed the only leaking area. after topping the fluid up .5 quarts and a new cap/pin they say its fixed. They did not charge me, probally since I blamed them for the leak when I came in. Still really worries me that it happened at all. On aother note: they say I appear to have an oil leak at the main seal and wanted me to pay for a dye test on that... I declined.
