***UPDATE***
So, Pizzaguy and I have decided to go with the Chestnut Room. At this point, it seems to be our best option. It was either this or we would have had to cancel the event.
It is $320 ($300+tax) for the rental and we will have it from 4pm until Midnight. They will have tables, chairs, and linens for 70 people set up for us. Best of all, they will take care of all of the clean up.
Pizzaguy got a list of people in our group who have Cabins and my friend Don Thomas (CajunXFire) apparently has one. I spoke with Don and he is more than willing to let us use his Cabin to heat up the food. Best of all, Don and I are traveling up together, so we will arrive at the same time. So, that issue is solved!
I am going to try to arrive by 4:00 to allow plenty of time to heat up the food. I know we already discussed donations in this thread. There are over 50 attendees on the list, so that makes a "suggested donation" of $6 per person. If you would like to donate, post here or send me a PM so I can kind of keep track of it all. You can bring cash to the event or if you wish, you can send money to my PayPal account: mom2kkj at g-mail.
**Note: No one is being required to donate towards the room since this event was advertised as free. However, as was mentioned previously, donations towards the cost of the room would be greatly appreciated. Once I have reached the $320, I will update this thread accordingly, as the Gumbo itself was always going to be "our gift to you all" since so many of you have offered friendship and help with our cars whenever it was needed. We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of this group and it is our desire to "give back" to the community that has given us so much.
