I run 8, been doing that for three Crossfires over eight years and 90,000 miles. If I put in more, I get the HIGH alarm in the curves at speed.

You can run these engines on way less than 7 quarts but not more than 8/8.5.
Think I'm nuts about that "less than 7" remark? READ your owner's manual.

NO I did NOT say to run less than 8 but the manual makes it clear that the sump can get up to two quarts low before you add oil.
