I followed these steps but must have missed the part about once you have removed the torx screws from the handle THERE IS NO need to remove that portion of the chrome handle. It can stay with the door skin! A lesson learnt too late for me I am afraid as I managed to snap the other piece of handle trying to remove it from the door skin.
I am now in the process of devising a new handle system. I am considering a small gauge chrome chain anchored to original points with QR clips.
