Please help me understand. Are all the parts interchangeable. Or... is just the valeo and mb. The remy is quite a bit cheaper. SRT6. Or is the wiring the issue. I really don't want to spend 300 for a new one. This alternator thing is a nightmare figuring out.
Valeo and Bosch (not MB) both make equivalent parts for our car. The NA (6 rib) and the SRT (8 rib) have different pulleys and plug connections. But Valeo and Bosch make parts for both, you just have to get the part numbers for each vehicle.

This has been covered in later threads, this is an early thread, always look for the later threads with more up to date info.
If
I did a chart which showed the part numbers for both makers for both cars.
The biggest mistakes people have made is trading in a alternator with their pulleys and then found the new part had the wrong pulley on it and/or the wrong plug connection. Stick with Valeo or Bosch, the others may have the wrong configuration.

I’ll add the chart here. Make sure it comes with the regulator. The chart was for the Mercedes SLK320 and SLK32.
