My SE had a paper element in it. Had maybe 1000 miles on it, I changed the oil and filter when I got the car home. The filter had collapsed partly - made me concerned about if any filter material had broken off...

I posted about it on Facebook, got a lot of responses that said, "Normal, you are worried about nothing..." Not the people I'd go to for technical advice.
