Default Water pump going bad?

So it seems that my water pump is making some noise. 2006 N/A roadster (72,000 miles). Do these just get new bearings installed in them or is it best to just replace the whole pump? Does it need to be on a lift to replace it or it is a DIY project one can do at home? Anyone have a cost estimate for a quality shop to do it?
I've been reading that the part numbers are confusing for these pumps so if anyone has the correct part number that would be good also.
