Yes, I know the scale is off. I have been working on the overall, and will make the adjustments before prototype prints. My garage renovations were cut short since December 18 (haven't had a winter like this in the Midwest for 3+ years) and my car is being kept in a rented garage, so I haven't had direct access to all my bezels for exact measurements. This is really a mock photo.... My working model does not have the bevels and curves, this allows me to scale the design without the extra finishing bezels that can sometimes throw the design sizes when adjusting the major surface area of the bezels in my computer modeling software. I have already shortened the ash-tray curvature. The shifter bezel is no-where near exact, but easily customizable to be accurate. This is just the top surface, still will need to add all attachment pegs to hold the bezel to the actual console. I have really tried to keep the same ascetic as the original bezel, with the center spine basis of the whole car. I am not particularly fond of the Mercedes SLK bezels that are more recessed than the XF, and like the raised bezels with the tapered edges.
I also have a few other designs for added speakers within the car...
- Including a tweeter enclosure that will be located next to the seat-belt on each side of the bulkhead.
- A cup holder (modified from the center rear bulkhead cup holders that have been posted throughout other forums) which will include 2 X 3.5" speakers that should add extra mid-range spectrum, a few switches to add/control led accent lights and includes extra storage area (with my future intent to add the led controls for illuminating the custom acrylic windscreen).
With all this designs/ideas... haven't even made a decision on interior color customization yet. I am still swaying on the idea of upholstery leather rather than paint (which would have a little added foam padding on the armrest to soften the hard plastic) but until these become a physical reality have plenty of time.
