1) Are the modules still back ordered from Chrysler? MB?
2) Can a different module be cloned from a non-functioning module? Who does this?
3) Does the battery disconnect/remove fuse 9 allow the car to be used?
1) As far as I can tell they are. However, I just spoke with a parts rep at a
Seattle dealership who relayed that their system is showing an estimate of 4/17, and oddly enough that they see no other orders in the pipeline for the module (Part #: 5099541AA / A170 820 18 26). Perhaps I happened to call just after Chrysler finally started clearing orders, or more likely Chrysler's record keeping on this is as fucky as the scenario itself has been. Don't know what to make of it, but that's what I got. Hopefully someone else who's had the part on back order can weigh in.
2) Although there's been a few differing reports on this, none of them have been confirmed beyond speculation. I've spoken to both
Alex Payless Car Keys Corp. (auto locksmith) and
ModuleGods and both have reported that they've had no success in being able to fully clone the Crossfire SKREEM module. Hopefully
SOS Diagnostics ( user:
sosxfire) can weigh in, as they are the only other reputable destination I've come across that may be able to do so. However, they've been backed up since the new year with Crossfire orders, and I've not been able to get a response from their Crossfire team over the past few months.
3) It does for some cases. But this is very likely because the SKREEM module was not actually the part that was causing their no-start issue. It was very likely something else throwing a fault like the CPS pump or anti-towing security module (part #: A 193 820 01 26) in the trunk; usually due to water damage. Pulling the #9 fuse would affect these parts, but have nothing to do with the SKREEM module, as it isn't on the circuit. I've personally had no luck after pulling the #9 fuse, and my issue still persists. As for the battery disconnect/reconnect: this should be step one in trying to rectify a no-start issue. So it should be easy to identify if this rectifies the issue for you or not.
