NOW I know, either I read the instructions wrong (and read "right" for "left", or the writer made a mistake. I will try to open my truck (with the lid closed) using this technique this weekend.

On the Roadster, the Pneumatic Lock can be accessed from the LEFT (Drivers Side) License Plate Light Socket opening, and the Electronic "Top in Motion" Lockout mechanism is accessed through the Right (Passenger Side) License Plate Light Socket opening.
As for the Coupe, I don't have one, but based on another video I saw that was done on a Coupe, I could only assume the Pneumatic Lock would be accessed from the Left side as well.
