VIDEO - Locked Out of Trunk? How To Override the Lock Mechanisms
Thanks for showing us the issue. First, it appears that you have the floppy handle issue when trying to open the trunk (boot), which is indicative of a pneumatic system failure, which is the pawl assembly that has ti be PUSHED into place in order to open the trunk. Until that is resolved I cant tell if the electronic lockout is engaged or not. Can you take some still images of the inside of the left hand side opening? I mean there must be some access just in order to accommodate the license plate fixture. The fact is these pneumatic lines travel along the trunk lip and if there was a full metal plate blocking this, I cant see how this would be engineered. Take the best photos you can with the best lighting possible. I like a challenge!!

Thank you for your time...you guys rock!
OK, Here it is. A video covering how to override the pneumatic trunk lock for Coupes and Roadsters, and how to override the electronic lock for Roadsters only. I even added in a piece on the Emergency Release cable with proof that you cannot override the electronic lock with the Emergency handle.

I believe you are supposed to slide it to the side, not 'straight up'. Have you tried that?

The camera, it looked like you were threading the camera 'up' instead of to the side. Hope it was this simple.
Unfortunately not. I can see the top of the pneumatic lock but the plate is stopping me from opening it.
thinking about going in behind the Chrysler emblem above the lock or undoing the latch…maybe a way in?
this is a nightmare!!!

I believe the emblem is glued on and is removed by running fishing line or ? to break it loose. I don't know where the hole would be in relation to the lock.
Why keep trying to reinvent the wheel?
[QUOTE=onehundred80;977548]There is no need to remove the emblem. Pizzaguy has explained this fix which is quite simple. Find it and follow his simple fix.
Why keep trying to reinvent the wheel?
Unfortunately I have metal plates that won’t let me get to the said Cam. Check the video below.

I have the same issue with a UK 2004 Roadster.

I notice that it was quite recent that you had the problem. I'd really like to hear how you got on please!!
Cheers

Hi Geoff,
Sorry, I did miss your post. All the info you need is in the drilling video. It got the boot open. Get yourself a 20mm hole cutter, some fishing wire and double sided tape to stick the emblem back on.
As for the reason this happened is still a mystery but will let you know. I tend to hit it in waves so it doesn't completely drain the life out of me!

Hi there Haydyn. Thanks for the vid. I have a 2006 RHD roadster UK model and had partially lifted the top for cleaning the over-winter mould from the inside of the top. The lock for the rear of the top somehow got locked and I can't engage the latch. Also the boot/trunk/deck lid is locked and I face the exact same problem as you did in order to attempt to get it open.

This is the vid on how to drill to gain access:
Hi Haydyn.,
Hallehbloodyluya indeed!! Many thanks for sharing. Sorry if I missed the video earlier.
I'm glad you got her sorted. I hope to tackle mine soon.
I've found this forum massively useful over several years. Thanks to all you guys who take time out to help. Much appreciated.

At the risk of going very off-topic...
Any suggestions greatly appreciated... I am on the edge of absolute despair and surrender!!
Cheers,

- I managed to get the boot/trunk unlocked and opened using the method for the UK model brilliantly described by Haydn.
- I now have an issue where the convertible top (which has been manhandled into various positions) is closed - apart from the rear bow latch, which is not engaged. Pressing the button for roof up and roof down achieves nothing except for an audible 'beep beep beep' and no discernible movement of any sort.
- Additionally, something mysterious unbeknownst to me has raised the rear aerofoil at some stage in events. Pressing the button to lower it is equally futile, as it's stubbornly determined to remain where it is.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated... I am on the edge of absolute despair and surrender!!
Cheers,

Hiya Geoff,
I'm in the same boat as you with the roof and spoiler. If you push hard on the motor wheel on the spoiler you can slowly move it down and then just take the wire off for now. Many say this could all be rear left ABS sensor. If you think about it, all of the things we're asking of the car are related to speed. Too fast and it won't let you move the roof. At 50 odd MPH the spoiler moves up and down.
I must admit, I've had to take a break from the car as it's doing my head in! She runs great and is a useful beer car (she spends most of her life in pub car parks waiting to be collected after the weekend
)
Maybe we can share the journey and keep each other motivated...because I certainly need some motivation right now!

Hi Haydyn,
That's bad news! Was was hoping you'd send me a nice step-by-step video guide to show how easy it is to fix it... JOKE!
I agree with your logic around there seeming to be a 'phantom' speed connection with both issues, but I'm finding it hard to disassociate it from the fact that my roof problem came about exactly when I was 'recklessly' manhandling the top to remove the mould from the inside of it. I'm really not sure about the spoiler, which only came about recently, but the car battery (which was previously fine) seems to have deteriorated recently. It appears to lose charge even though I've been disconnecting it. I've known cars to do weird things when the battery goes duff, so this might be the first straw I pluck at. Regarding the top, I've heard mention of manually opening and closing several times to 'reset' it. Not sure how that would work, but I'll give it a go. The brilliant 'Pizzaguy' uploaded a video on manually operating the top. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...operation.html
Keep on keeping on and we might even get there one day!! Please let me know if you have any breakthroughs and I'll do the same.
Best wishes
Geoff
