Sorry, I did miss your post. All the info you need is in the drilling video. It got the boot open. Get yourself a 20mm hole cutter, some fishing wire and double sided tape to stick the emblem back on.

As for the reason this happened is still a mystery but will let you know. I tend to hit it in waves so it doesn't completely drain the life out of me!
